Hailey Bieber and Taylor Swift Wear the Ultimate Summer Outfit

You'll never catch us saying a bad word about summer. With its gloriously sunny days, packed schedule of weddings and festivals, endless ice-creams, evenings in pub gardens and long-awaited holidays, there can be no doubt that it is hands-down the best season. And on top of all that, little compares to the sheer joy of finally getting out the sandals, bikinis and floaty dresses after many months of being hidden in the dark depths of your wardrobe.

Summer really is the most wonderful time of the year... But it's also the sweatiest – and therefore *very* tricky to dress for. Sure, if you're hanging on a beach somewhere, then all you need is a stash of bikinis and cover-ups to get by. But for those of us riding out the heatwave in the city, looking chic while staying cool is no mean feat.

Thankfully, though, there is one failsafe outfit formula that just got the Hailey Bieber and Taylor Swift seal of approval. And frankly, that's about all we need to call it the official cool girl 'fit of the summer. Let's take a look at Taylor first...

The singer stepped out in NYC yesterday wearing a white crochet-detail top, denim mini-skirt, chunky leather sandals and a dash of her signature red lipstick. It's simple, yes, but also classic, breezy and effortless – and perfect for summer in the city. Taylor's top is giving Provence market vibes, while her denim mini is bang on trend, and her sandals sturdy enough to withstand a day of dashing around town. We're also *obsessed* with her little vintage-style beaded straw bag. The whole thing is just *chef's kiss*

Hailey, meanwhile, was spotted running errands around LA in her own version of this classic outfit combo – showing just how versatile it is. The model paired a pair of high-waisted denim shorts with a plain cropped white tee, black leather fisherman sandals, white socks and an oversized beige trench to ward off the summer breeze. Now that's what we call off-duty style done right!

It's not quiiiiiite office appropriate, but it very well could be if you swapped out the crop top for a longline white tee, and the shorts for a denim maxi skirt. Just sayin'!
